Avari: Animated Virtual Agent Retrieving Information

AVARI provides information about faculty members in the Computer Science department at UNCC. AVARI provides a natural interactive interface that allows users to speak naturally to her and receive a relevant response. If a user gets stuck or AVARI has problems understanding what the user is asking, she provides a list of possible questions to the user. AVARI not only provides general information about the faculty members, but also interesting facts to which users would not necessarily have access. These facts include but are not limited to information on a faculty member’s favorite book, hobbies and what it takes to make an A in their class. AVARI has several special features. These include: acceptance of natural language; visual and verbal responses; provision of hints and use of an animated agent to improve naturalness of interaction.

You will need these things:

Windows XP Professional(others probably won't work)
Internet Explorer 7
Haptek Player
SALT plugin for Internet Explorer
A microphone and some speakers

You will also need to enable scripting and ActiveX objects.
